- Cooling the South
- 10 August 2013 - 07:00 PM
- Apalachicola Maritime Museum - Apalachicola
Join us on Saturday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. for a lecture all about ice! The block ice era may have passed, but author and photographer Elli Morris brings it back to life in her award-winning book Cooling the South, an affectionate look at the manufactured ice business that helped shape the American South. Cooling the South gives tribute to how block ice changed commercial fishing and its ensuing economic impact. After all, where would shrimp and oyster eating be without ice?! Elli Morris is a professional photographer based in Richmond, Virginia. Her commercial business focuses on products and portraits while her personal projects range from history books to river videos.
Admission to the lecture is free. Join us after the lecture for a shrimp boil on the docks for $12.
This event is part of Historic Apalachicola Main Street's Festival of Ice and is supported in part by the Franklin County Tourist Development Council. Be sure to check out the other events that are part of the Festival of Ice!
